Former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ude Chukwu, who served under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu from May 2015 to May 2023, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated August 5 and addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo, Ohafia LGA, Chukwu cited “personal reasons” for his decision. The letter, received by one Ama Nwoke Ibe, read in part:
“I write to inform you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately. You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time.”
Chukwu expressed appreciation to the PDP for its support over the years and wished the party success in its future endeavours.
His resignation comes shortly after a visit to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti. During the visit, Chukwu reportedly remarked that Governor Otti had “earned himself re-election in 2027.”
Following the visit, sources said Chukwu was removed from all PDP stakeholders’ groups in the state
