The Federal Government has officially received 70 hybrid Jet Mover buses from Jet Motor Company, marking a significant step in advancing the country’s transportation infrastructure.

In a statement to The PUNCH, Jet Motor Company confirmed the delivery of the buses, which are designed to operate on both compressed natural gas (CNG) and premium motor spirit (PMS).

These hybrid vehicles are expected to provide Nigerians with an affordable and comfortable transportation option.

The handover ceremony, held at Jet Motor Company’s plant in Ajah, Lagos State, saw the presence of officials from the Ministry of Finance and representatives from the Presidential Initiative for Compressed Natural Gas.

Dimas Hamidu, Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, praised the quality of the vehicles and commended Jet Motor Company for their efforts.

He highlighted that the hybrid buses are a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to easing the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the public.

Hamidu remarked, “I am happy with what I have seen here. This will significantly alleviate the pain and suffering of the people following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

The Minister of Finance and I were impressed during our visit to the plant.”

He added that the Federal Government had contracted various companies for the supply of CNG vehicles, noting, “Nigerians were becoming agitated about the delay in seeing these vehicles on the road.

We are pleased with Jet Motor for meeting the contract terms and look forward to receiving more vehicles soon.”

Derek Ewelukwa, Managing Director of Jet Motor Company, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s transport sector.

He detailed that each bus is equipped with two CNG tanks, totaling 220 litres, and an 80-litre petrol tank, offering a range of 300 kilometers.

The CNG tanks are designed to last for 15 years, and the vehicle’s engine seamlessly switches between gas and petrol.
