Legendary musician Elton John, revealed that an eye infection has prevented him from watching his latest musical, “The Devil Wears Prada”.

The 77-year-old icon, who composed the score for the production, shared his experience during a charity gala performance of the musical in London on Sunday.

“I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight,” John told the audience.

“So it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and boy, it sounded good tonight,” he continued.

In September, the “Rocket Man” singer disclosed on Instagram that the infection had left him with limited vision in one eye.

“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process, and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” he explained.

Last month, John elaborated in an interview with ABC News, revealing that the infection had left him blind in his right eye while his left eye was also affected.

John concluded his celebrated live performance career with a farewell tour in 2022 and 2023, which included his final UK show at the Glastonbury Festival and his last-ever concert in Sweden.

“The Devil Wears Prada”, a stage adaptation of the 2006 hit film, features U.S. singer Vanessa Williams in the role of Miranda Priestly, the formidable fashion magazine editor.

Speaking about the production, Williams said, “I wanted to be a part of it because I could create the role, informing the script, the music, the choreography, all the action.”

Sunday’s performance drew a star-studded audience, including fashion luminaries Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace, further cementing the musical’s high-profile appeal.
