Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja in response to the agency’s invitation.

The visit followed earlier indications by the former governor that he would cooperate with investigators and appear before the anti-graft agency as scheduled.

El-Rufai had previously assured the commission through his legal representatives that he would honour the invitation voluntarily. His counsel had informed the EFCC that he would present himself at the commission’s office by 10:00 a.m. on February 16, 2026.

The appearance comes amid heightened attention surrounding the former governor after reports that anti-graft authorities had earlier delivered an invitation to his residence while he was outside the country.

Although the EFCC has not publicly disclosed the specific details of the inquiry, El-Rufai has consistently maintained his readiness to cooperate with any lawful investigation and to respond to questions from the authorities.

The development marks the latest episode in a series of engagements between the former governor and anti-corruption agencies, as calls for accountability over issues relating to his tenure continue to draw public and political interest.
