The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved N4.15 billion for the execution of key projects, including road rehabilitation, the renovation of the House of Assembly complex, advancements in agriculture, and the construction of educational facilities.

The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, announced the approvals made during the August 26 SEC meeting in a statement released on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Highlighting the council’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure, Olatunbosun revealed that a N2.71 billion contract was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the rehabilitation of the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti.

“The rehabilitation of this road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion from Adebayo to Ekiti State University, boost socio-economic activities, and enhance the security and quality of life for residents and property owners along the route,” Olatunbosun said.

The project is set to be completed within 12 months.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the state government has allocated N701 million for the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission (HASC) building.

The contract, awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited, is expected to restore these structures to a modern and functional state, conducive to effective legislative and administrative functions.

The renovation is projected to be completed within 12 weeks.

The SEC also approved N229 million for the procurement of tractors and other farm machinery, including three 5075E (75HP) Tractors, three Fieldking 3 Disc Ploughs, one Fieldking 22 Disc Harrow, and two Fieldking Ridger 2 Rows.

Olatunbosun emphasized that this initiative reflects Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to transforming the agriculture sector by empowering farmers and enhancing production along the value chain.

The procurement contract, awarded to AGCOMS International Trading Limited, is expected to be completed within four weeks.

Further supporting agricultural development, the state government has allocated N177.9 million as a partial payment for clearing 325 hectares of land across Ikere, Emure, Moba, Ido-Osi, and Ekiti West Local Government Areas. This initiative is part of the “Youths In Agriculture” program aimed at empowering young farmers across the state.

In the education sector, the SEC ratified a N329.4 million contract for the construction of a 100-bed hostel at the Command Secondary School in Isan Ekiti.

Olatunbosun noted that the project, expected to be completed in 12 weeks, is intended to ensure continuous full boarding facilities at the school.

This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier between the state government and the Nigerian Army to facilitate academic resumption at the school.
