The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has been honoured with the prestigious “Pan-African Youth Ambassador” award by the Pan-African Youth Union.
A delegation of Youth Presidents from several African countries presented the award during a visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The delegation, led by Union President Moumouni Dialla, included Oladele John Nihi, Vice President for West Africa, and Angelique Juliette of the National Youth Council of Seychelles. They described the award as recognition of Dr. Abdullahi’s impactful leadership and commitment to advancing young people across the continent.
In his remarks, Dr. Abdullahi expressed gratitude for the honour and highlighted some of the Commission’s key achievements under his leadership as a young DG. These include strengthened youth-focused innovation programmes, expanded clean energy initiatives, and the successful completion of the country’s first fully updated and gazetted National Energy Policy (NEP) and National Energy Master Plan (NEMP).
He commended the Pan-African Youth Union for its dedication to empowering young Africans and reaffirmed the ECN’s readiness to support its mission. Dr. Abdullahi also pledged continued collaboration to promote youth-driven innovation, leadership and sustainable development across Africa.
