Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele has been crowned FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year, adding another major individual honour to his career.

The 28-year-old, who won the Ballon d’Or in September, received the FIFA award at a ceremony in Qatar on Tuesday after a remarkable 2024–25 season in which he helped PSG secure four trophies.

Dembele, who joined the French champions in 2023 from Barcelona, recorded 51 goal contributions in 53 appearances for Luis Enrique’s side last season. His performances were pivotal as PSG claimed their first UEFA Champions League title, with the forward scoring eight of his 35 goals in the competition, including decisive strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout rounds.

He edged out Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe to claim the prestigious honour and was present at the ceremony ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo on Wednesday.

The award, which covers performances between August 2024 and August 2025, is voted for by men’s national team coaches, captains, journalists and fans.

Dembele’s triumph further cements his place among football’s elite. Although he endured a slow start to the 2024–25 campaign, his season took off after he was redeployed as a central forward, a move that transformed his output.

He joins an illustrious list of past winners, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, since the award’s inception in 2016.

So far this season, Dembele has scored three goals and provided three assists for PSG across all competitions. At international level, he also played a key role in helping France qualify for next summer’s World Cup, where the two-time champions will face Senegal, Norway and one of the play-off winners in the group stage.
