The Defence Headquarters has addressed recent social media allegations connecting Brigadier General MS Adamu to the prolonged detention of Seaman Abbas Haruna.
Seaman Abbas Haruna’s case gained public attention after his wife claimed in a radio interview in Abuja that he has been detained for nearly six years.
In response, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, issued a statement on Tuesday denying any connection between General Adamu and the Seaman Abbas case.
The statement emphasized that the public should allow the committee established by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa to complete its investigation without interference from public opinion.
The Defence Headquarters urged the public to refrain from spreading false information that could violate the senior officer’s privacy and fundamental rights.
“The senior officer reserves the right to seek legal action against any individual or organization that associates his image with the Seaman Abbas case,” the statement noted.
“The military remains committed to upholding the rule of law and will thoroughly investigate the matter. The public will be informed of the findings once the inquiry is complete,” it added.
