Dangote Refinery has applauded President Bola Tinubu and senior government officials for their swift intervention in resolving the recent crisis involving the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), which had threatened to disrupt operations and destabilize the country’s energy sector.
In a statement titled “PENGASSAN Strike – Dangote Refinery’s Note of Appreciation” dated October 6, 2025, the refinery’s management said the President’s decisive action — supported by his ministers and top security chiefs — “resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery.”
The company expressed special gratitude to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Mohammed Mohammed.
It also commended the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Neiruka Onyejeocha, noting that they “worked untiringly and determinedly into the wee hours of several nights to avert the declared disruption of Nigeria’s energy sector by anarchists and agents of darkness.”
The refinery extended appreciation to Nigerians for their public support, saying:
“Your support for our righteous cause was both humbling and overwhelming. We heard your supportive voices and words of encouragement literally in all the street corners and media channels of Nigeria.”
Dangote Refinery also praised its staff for their loyalty during the standoff, stating:
“To our loyal workers, who ensured that our operations were not disrupted even for a second, we thank and appreciate you. You proved your allegiance to our cause even in the face of provocative and inciting comments from detractors who do not wish us or Nigeria well.”
Reaffirming its reputation as one of Nigeria’s “model employers of labour,” the company highlighted that its compensation framework is benchmarked to international standards and “designed not only to reward performance but also to protect employee welfare.”
The refinery further commended the judiciary for upholding justice, saying it had “stood up for the truth and proved itself as the bastion of hope,” while condemning those who refused to accept service of valid court orders aimed at restraining unlawful disruptions.
Concluding the statement, Dangote Refinery assured Nigerians of its continued commitment to national growth and stability:
“Our commitment to the Nigerian nation and our pact with its people remain undiluted, undiminished, and unalterable notwithstanding the distractions from our detractors and saboteurs.”
