The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, has issued a query to one of its students, Nurse Osato Edobor, for sharing a video on social media that captured students reacting to a song performed during the visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The incident occurred on March 25, 2025, at the Dome Event Center in Asaba during the First Lady’s visit for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where she distributed 10,000 professional kits to midwives in the South-South geopolitical zone.
During the event, the MC sang a song in praise of the First Lady, but some students responded in a manner that appeared contrary to the intended sentiment.
Following the video’s circulation on platforms like TikTok and Facebook, the college management, through its Provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, issued a formal query to Edobor.
The school cited the act as a violation of its regulations, referencing the Student Handbook’s disciplinary provisions.
According to the query, Edobor was accused of engaging in an unauthorized online publication and was instructed to provide a written explanation in triplicate within 24 hours, justifying why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.
The school emphasized that such actions are considered punishable offenses under its disciplinary code.
The incident has sparked discussions about student conduct and social media usage, particularly in academic institutions.
