The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the Garki-Babura Federal Constituency by-election in Jigawa State.

The party’s candidate, Alhaji Rabiu Mukhtar, polled 38,449 votes to defeat his closest rival, Auwalu Isah Manzo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 13,519 votes.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer for the constituency, Prof. Salisu Ibrahim, described the election as free, fair, and credible.

In his acceptance speech, Mukhtar expressed gratitude to the electorate for their support, pledging to fulfill his campaign promises.

He also appealed to his opponents to accept the outcome in good faith and join hands in advancing the constituency through developmental projects.

Observers noted that the election was largely peaceful, with no major incidents of violence reported across the polling units.
