Two senior members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ayo Afolabi and Mr. Wale Oshun, have urged Nigerians, particularly party loyalists, to disregard claims that former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, is involved in a coalition plotting against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In separate telephone conversations, both APC stalwarts dismissed the speculation as baseless and politically motivated.
They described it as a deliberate attempt to create discord within the party and mislead the public, labeling the rumor as part of a wider campaign aimed at undermining President Tinubu’s administration.
Similarly, the APC spokesperson in Ekiti, Segun Dipe, refuted reports suggesting that the presidency had decided to deny Governor Biodun Oyebanji a second-term ticket due to his perceived closeness to Fayemi.
Dipe clarified that there was no truth to claims that the federal government was unhappy with the former governor over his alleged ties to opposition elements working against Tinubu’s second-term bid.
The speculation had sparked concerns that Oyebanji, who succeeded Fayemi as governor, could face political retribution from the presidency.
However, APC leaders have dismissed the narrative, asserting that it is a calculated attempt to sow division within the party.
