The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has assured the public that the police command will deploy its full strength to ensure a peaceful and transparent local government election scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024.
During his maiden press briefing in Uyo on Monday, Eribo emphasized that officers will be stationed across every part of the state to prevent any potential disruption by individuals looking to cause trouble.
“We are fully prepared for the election on Saturday, October 5, 2024,” Eribo stated. “We are collaborating with sister agencies, and I want to extend my appreciation for their cooperation in fighting and preventing crime in the state.”
He also highlighted the strong partnership between the police, other security agencies, the press, and the public, stressing that this synergy will be key in maintaining order throughout the election process. “Our full force will be deployed, and all security agencies will work together to ensure the election is free from violence.”
Eribo further warned that those intending to disrupt the election would be dealt with decisively. “Our officers will be on standby, ready to handle any issues that may arise,” he added.
