Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, expressed strong confidence that Kano State will remain a key stronghold for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 general elections approach.
Akpabio attributed this to the strategic influence of key APC leaders, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado.
During a visit to Senator Lado’s office at the National Assembly, Akpabio commended Lado for ensuring seamless and confidential communication between the Executive and the Senate, noting his unprecedented performance in the role.
“With the Deputy Senate President, the National Chairman of the APC, and your strategic influence, Kano is already secured for the APC ahead of 2027,” Akpabio stated.
The Senate President further emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality in governance, highlighting that since Lado’s appointment, no confidential communication between the Presidency and the Senate has been leaked.
“Since Senator Lado assumed office, there has not been a single leakage of private communication between the Presidency and the Senate,” Akpabio said, stressing the importance of information security in government.
“In government, information security is crucial. Where official business is conducted on the pages of newspapers and social media due to leaks, it undermines national security,” Akpabio continued.
He praised Lado for upholding the integrity of the office and ensuring effective governance, which, he added, has led to smoother collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature.
“Your performance over the last eight months has been outstanding.
You have strengthened the synergy between the Executive and the Legislature, making governance more effective,” Akpabio remarked.
In his response, Senator Lado expressed his gratitude for Akpabio’s leadership, highlighting the Senate President’s pivotal role in fostering cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature.
He described Akpabio as a statesman dedicated to national unity and progress.
“Mr. Senate President, your presence here is a testament to the harmony between the Executive and the Legislature.
It reflects a shared vision and leadership anchored on service to the nation,” Lado said.
Lado also lauded Akpabio for his unwavering support of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, noting the Senate President’s leadership in advancing key government policies.
“You have not only supported the President but have championed his Renewed Hope agenda with conviction, defending it with clarity, articulating it with passion, and driving its implementation through legislative action,” Lado added.
