Atalanta forward and Super Eagles ace Ademola Lookman has been honoured with a prestigious nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. This recognition comes after a stellar season that saw Lookman rise to the ranks of football’s elite, earning a spot on the shortlist for one of the sport’s most coveted individual awards.

Lookman’s outstanding performances for both club and country have not gone unnoticed. Last season, he played a key role for Atalanta, delivering a memorable hat-trick that secured the Europa League title for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team. His individual brilliance was crucial in Atalanta’s triumph, marking a historic achievement for the club.

On the international stage, Lookman continued to shine. His three vital goals and one assist helped propel the Super Eagles to the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations under coach José Peseiro’s leadership. His contributions have made him a strong contender for the African Footballer of the Year award.

This Ballon d’Or nomination cements Lookman’s status as a rising star in world football.

Last season, fellow Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was crowned the 2023 African Footballer of the Year and finished eighth in the Ballon d’Or rankings. Now, the spotlight is on Lookman as he aims to surpass his compatriot and bring further pride to Nigerian football fans.

Lookman’s nomination reflects his growing influence in the sport, and fans eagerly await his next achievements on the global stage.
