The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a 32-year-old blogger, Augustus, for allegedly cloning the agency’s official website and disseminating a fraudulent recruitment notice.

The arrest was carried out on Thursday at Augustus’s residence on Akpan Eno Lane, located in Abak, Akwa Ibom State.

The suspect, a graduate of the University of Uyo and a content creator, was reportedly involved in activities aimed at deceiving unsuspecting members of the public.

According to DSS sources, the cloned website featured a fake online recruitment notice, purportedly designed to lure and defraud Nigerians.

The agency promptly flagged the notice as false and issued a warning to the public to remain vigilant against such scams.

DSS operatives tracked Augustus to his residence and apprehended him, following investigations into the fraudulent scheme.

The suspect, a native of Abak Local Government Area, is believed to have orchestrated the act with malicious intent.

Authorities have confirmed that Augustus will soon be arraigned in court to face charges related to his alleged activities.

The DSS reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigerians from fraudulent schemes and urged the public to verify information through official channels.
