The Adamawa State Government has officially implemented the ₦70,000 minimum wage for its workers.
On Friday, August 23, the state fulfilled Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s promise to introduce the new wage rate this month.
Salaries were paid on schedule, marking the first payment under the new policy.
Civil servant Amos Tumba confirmed, “I can confirm that the salary increase has been effected and I received it.”
Another worker, Amma Yohanna, added, “Yes, they have paid, and it’s the new package.”
Governor Fintiri had assured labor leaders earlier in the week that the wage increase would be in effect from August, though local government workers will only see the increase starting September 2024.
