Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen began the new year in style, scoring Galatasaray’s opening goal in their Turkish Süper Lig clash against Göztepe on Saturday. The Nigerian forward dedicated the goal to billionaire twins Tony and Toby Elumelu, who recently celebrated their 10th birthday.
Osimhen’s tribute, shared on social media, included the message, “For the T Boys,” fulfilling a promise he made during a Christmas visit to Nigeria. Tony Elumelu, the twins’ father and renowned businessman, confirmed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Throwback to last week when @victorosimhen9 promised the T-Men to dedicate his next goal as their 10th birthday gift—and, as always, he delivered in style.”
A Perfect Start to 2025
In the match, Osimhen converted a penalty just 10 minutes in, giving Galatasaray an early lead after Kaan Ayhan was fouled in the box. Although Göztepe equalized before halftime through Romulo, Galatasaray regained the advantage in the second half with a goal from Yunus Akgün, securing a 2-1 victory.
Osimhen’s goal marked his 10th in 12 league matches this season and his 12th across all competitions, underscoring his crucial role in Galatasaray’s unbeaten run in the Süper Lig and their continued dominance at the top of the table.
A Star on the Rise
Since his surprising transfer to Galatasaray, Osimhen has continued to attract attention with his impressive performances. The 25-year-old’s consistent goal-scoring has sparked speculation about potential moves, as top European clubs closely monitor his progress.
With his dedication to the Elumelu twins and his standout performances, Osimhen continues to prove he is not only a leader on the pitch but also a man of his word off it.
