The Sokoto State Government has approved a 2025 budget worth over N526 billion, with a strong focus on capital expenditure aimed at driving infrastructure development and economic growth in the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu signed the appropriation bill into law, describing it as a transformative step towards the state’s progress.
The budget allocates 66% of its total funds to capital projects, underscoring the administration’s commitment to key sectors such as education, agriculture, environment, urban renewal, and youth empowerment.
This aligns with Governor Aliyu’s 9-point innovative smart agenda, which has already delivered significant results in areas such as water supply and urban development.
Reflecting on the outgoing year, the governor highlighted the successful implementation of the 2024 budget, rating it at 90% success.
He credited this achievement to the government’s strategic focus on critical sectors and the support of development partners, non-governmental organizations, and civil society groups.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State House of Assembly emphasized its dedication to ensuring the budget’s effective implementation.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga noted that the legislative approval process was both rigorous and thorough, aimed at guaranteeing the budget aligns with the interests of the people.
Dubbed the “Budget of Transformation and Infrastructural Sustainability,” the 2025 budget is expected to accelerate development across the state and build on the administration’s vision for sustainable progress.
