The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has inaugurated the remodelled E Wing Departure Terminal and introduced four compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered air-conditioned buses at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, commended FAAN for its efforts to enhance passenger experience. He also praised the collaboration with the United Bank for Africa (UBA), describing the project as part of a broader initiative to improve passenger comfort and entertainment in airport terminals.
Highlighting FAAN’s eco-conscious approach, the Minister lauded the introduction of energy-efficient CNG buses, which align with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to promote sustainability and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to upgrading airport facilities and services. She outlined plans for further investments in cooling systems, infrastructure modernisation, and equipment upgrades by 2025.
“Our goal is to ensure that Nigerians take pride in their airports and enjoy a seamless and positive travel experience,” Mrs. Kuku said.
These developments mark a significant step in FAAN’s ongoing efforts to transform Nigeria’s aviation sector and improve the quality of service for passengers and stakeholders alike.
