The Imo State Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against terrorism with the successful dismantling of a notorious hideout in Aku, Okigwe Local Government Area. The hideout, allegedly linked to an Eastern Security Network (ESN) commander known as “Gentle,” was uncovered following a weeks-long intelligence-driven operation.

Speaking on Wednesday, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, announced the operation’s success, noting that it led to the arrest of key suspects and bolstered security across the state.

“We urge residents to continue providing actionable intelligence to support ongoing security efforts against criminal elements,” CP Danjuma said, highlighting the importance of community collaboration in sustaining peace and stability in the region.

Brigadier General Joseph Ogbonna (Rtd.), Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Affairs, also addressed the residents of Aku, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety. He encouraged displaced community members to return home and work with security agencies, promising adequate resources to ensure their protection.

The operation was a joint effort involving top security officials, including Brigadier General U.A. Lawal, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS). Their collaboration underscores the coordinated approach to combating terrorism and restoring normalcy in Imo State.

This successful operation is seen as a significant step towards dismantling criminal networks and reinforcing security in the region.
