Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a spectacular performance, recording his first 40-point triple-double as the Milwaukee Bucks secured a 124-114 victory over the Washington Wizards at Fiserv Forum on Friday night.
The win marked Milwaukee’s sixth consecutive triumph, improving their season record to 10-9, the first time they’ve been above .500 since their opening night win on October 23. Meanwhile, the Wizards continued their struggles, dropping their 14th straight game to fall to 2-16.
Antetokounmpo was in unstoppable form, finishing with 42 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. His performance was complemented by Damian Lillard, who registered his fifth double-double in six games with 25 points and 10 assists. Brook Lopez added 18 points, while AJ Green and Taurean Prince chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively, to round out a balanced Bucks offense.
Speaking after the game, Antetokounmpo said, “It’s about staying aggressive and trusting my teammates. When we play together like this, we’re a tough team to beat.”
The Wizards, despite the loss, saw solid contributions from their veterans. Jordan Poole led the team with 31 points and seven assists, Malcolm Brogdon posted 29 points and 11 rebounds, and Jonas Valančiūnas added 16 points and five assists.
Milwaukee has now won eight of its last nine games, with their only defeat in that span coming from a controversial one-point loss in Charlotte on November 16. Looking ahead, the Bucks will travel to Detroit on December 3 for their final NBA Cup pool play matchup. A victory against the Pistons would secure them the top spot in East Group B and a home quarterfinal game on December 10 or 11.
“We’re building momentum, but there’s still a lot of work to do,” Lillard said. “Every game is an opportunity to improve.”
With the Bucks firing on all cylinders, fans have high hopes for a deep playoff run as the team looks to solidify its position among the NBA’s elite.
