The Katsina State House of Assembly approved the establishment of eight additional districts within the Katsina and Daura Emirates, marking a significant step toward enhancing governance and local administration.
The approval was granted during a plenary session on Wednesday, presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya-Daura.
The proposal, submitted by Governor Dikko Radda, successfully passed both the second and third readings in the assembly before its final adoption.
Governor Radda emphasized that the creation of the new districts would improve administrative efficiency, bring government closer to the people, and empower traditional institutions to play a more active role in local governance and cultural preservation.
Under the Katsina Emirate, the new districts include Dankama, Radda, Muduru, Dabai, Shargalle, and Katsina.
For the Daura Emirate, Ɗankum and Kawarin Kudi were established.
Following comprehensive deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously approved the bill.
The Speaker subsequently directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the legislation and forward it to the governor for assent.
This move is expected to strengthen grassroots governance and reinforce traditional structures across the state.
