The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has announced that the airlift of intending pilgrims to the Holy Land will begin on December 22, 2024.

This was disclosed in a statement by the commission’s Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka, on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, during a meeting of the Conference of States, which comprises State Chairmen and Secretaries of Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards, as well as representatives from the Federal Capital Territory, in Abuja.

Focus on Service and Integrity

Bishop Adegbite, addressing the meeting, emphasized the importance of serving the people with integrity, stating, “The meeting aims to deliberate on moving the commission forward. I urge members of the Conference of States to look up to God and serve the people, trusting that God will give them the grace to do what is right.”

He reiterated the NCPC’s commitment to its zero-tolerance policy on abscondment of pilgrims and corruption, commending President Bola Tinubu for his leadership. “Despite the challenges, Nigeria is still on course towards achieving its desired destination,” Adegbite said.

Support and Prayers for Success

Chairman of the Conference of States, Bishop David Moradeyo, praised Bishop Adegbite for his effective leadership and the initiative to hold the meeting, which he described as a platform for meaningful discussions about the December pilgrimage exercise.

Bishop Moradeyo also revealed that the Conference of States had directed its members to fast and pray for the NCPC, seeking divine guidance for the smooth execution of the pilgrimage operations.

The December airlift marks a significant milestone for the NCPC as it continues its mission of facilitating spiritual journeys for Christians across Nigeria.
