The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
Ayedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious after securing a clear lead in all 18 local government areas of the state.
The final result, announced on Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Akure, showed Ayedatiwa winning the last local government area, Ese Odo, solidifying his earlier wins in the 17 other LGAs.
Announcing the outcome, the State Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, declared that Ayedatiwa garnered a total of 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 117,845 votes.
In his official statement, Prof. Akinwumi said, “That Ayedatiwa Lucky Orimisan of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby returned elected.”
