Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday presented a proposed 2025 budget of N678.09 billion to the State House of Assembly for review and approval.
The budget, titled the “Budget of Economic Stabilisation,” represents a 35% increase over the previous year’s allocation.
Governor Makinde detailed the budget breakdown, noting that capital expenditure would account for N349.29 billion, or 50.59% of the total, while recurrent expenditure would receive N325.57 billion, representing 49.41%.
“The infrastructure sector is allocated the highest share, with N152.26 billion, or 22.46%,” Makinde explained.
“Education follows with N145.26 billion, accounting for 21.44%, while health is allocated N59 billion (9%), and agriculture receives N18 billion (3%),” he added.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Oyo State citizens.
In response, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin expressed the legislature’s commitment to supporting the budget’s successful implementation.
“We pledge to conduct thorough oversight of all government activities to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective resource allocation,” Ogundoyin stated.
“Our review of the appropriation bill will begin immediately to facilitate a swift passage and timely implementation of all projects for the upcoming year,” Ogundoyin concluded.
