The Kebbi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed strong condemnation of a recent attack by bandits on Mera Community in Augie Local Government Area, calling the incident “shocking and unfortunate.”
The attack, which occurred on Friday, claimed the lives of 15 residents.
State Chairman, Alhaji Usman Bello Suru, extended condolences on behalf of the PDP’s Working Committee, Party Elders, and State Executive to the Kebbi State Government, the Argungu Emirate Council, and the Augie Local Government Council.
In addition to condemning the attack, the PDP criticized the state government’s expenditure on what it described as “frivolous foreign trips” that have brought minimal benefit to Kebbi.
The party urged that rather than seeking assistance from economically strained foreign nations, the government should focus on fostering local investment.
The PDP recommended that funds be redirected to initiatives that could boost Kebbi’s economy, such as establishing Free Trade Zones, developing International Border Markets, and reviving industries in the Bulasa Industrial Layout.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainable local growth, the PDP called on the state government to prioritize projects that would create stability, economic growth, and employment opportunities for the people of Kebbi.
