The Ogun State Government has announced its plan to recruit 1,000 teachers to address staffing shortages in public schools. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, will collaborate with the Teaching Service Commission, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board.

The recruitment drive is part of the Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (TEACH), designed to supply skilled educators for primary, secondary, and technical institutions.

Education Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, emphasized that applicants must possess at least a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a relevant degree in education with a minimum of Second Class Lower. Those with degrees in non-education fields must have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, while applicants for technical colleges should hold engineering or technical education degrees.

Applications will be accepted through the Ogun State Job Portal from October 16 to November 6, 2024. Selected candidates, referred to as TEACH Interns, will serve in local government areas for two years with a monthly stipend and undergo performance evaluations before being considered for permanent positions.

This recruitment effort is part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s broader plan to employ 5,000 teachers, with 4,000 interns already recruited and many transitioning to permanent roles.
