Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has called on the media to play a pivotal role in ensuring the dissemination of accurate and transparent information. He stressed that the media must remain committed to promoting accountability in governance.
During a visit to News Central Television on Friday, Governor Ododo highlighted the critical function of the media in shaping public opinion and fostering an informed society.
“The media is a powerful tool for shaping public opinion and holding governments accountable. It is crucial that they prioritize the dissemination of accurate and unbiased information,” Ododo said.
Representing the governor, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, emphasized the government’s intention to partner with News Central Television to boost media coverage and showcase the state’s achievements.
“We believe that a strong partnership with the media will help us tell the story of Kogi State to the world,” Fanwo stated.
In response, News Central’s Director of Commercial and Communications, Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, expressed the station’s commitment to supporting the Kogi State Government’s efforts in enhancing its media presence.
“We are honoured to host the Commissioner and look forward to working closely with the Kogi State Government to promote the positive developments taking place in the state,” she said.
The visit concluded with a tour of the News Central headquarters, during which Commissioner Fanwo participated in an exclusive interview. He also pledged to explore further avenues for collaboration, including media campaigns, public enlightenment programmes, and broader information dissemination initiatives.
