Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Thursday, formally swore in former Speaker of the Taraba House of Assembly, Josiah Kente, as Special Adviser on Political Matters, alongside 16 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries. The ceremony took place in the Executive Chamber of the Government House, Jalingo.

During his address, Governor Kefas highlighted the significance of integrity, professionalism, and dedication in public service, urging the appointees to prioritize the well-being of the state.

He reminded them that their actions and decisions would shape the future of Taraba and play a key role in the success of his administration.

“You are the key drivers of our governance. The people of Taraba will feel the effects of your leadership through the decisions you make daily and how you conduct your responsibilities.

As you take up your roles, bear in mind that our administration is hinged on key priorities including good governance, service delivery, teamwork, and professionalism, and you must be exemplary in your conduct,” Kefas charged.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Kente expressed gratitude to the governor for the trust placed in them and pledged to uphold integrity and transparency in their duties. He assured that their efforts would align with the governor’s vision of inclusive governance.

“Your Excellency, I thank you for this opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of our political landscape.

I understand the weight of this office, and I pledge to serve with integrity, transparency, and diligence,” Kente stated.

He further emphasized the importance of political leadership, saying, “Political leadership is not just about power; it is about service, listening to the voices of our people, and working tirelessly to translate their aspirations into reality.”

Kente assured that the newly appointed officials were committed to supporting the governor’s vision and working closely with other leaders to strengthen Taraba’s democratic institutions and drive meaningful change across the state.
