Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State over the loss of his wife, Patience Umo Eno. The passing of the Akwa Ibom First Lady was confirmed by the State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, in a statement issued early Friday, announcing that she died in a hospital on September 26, 2024, surrounded by family.

In a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the late Mrs. Eno as a “pillar of support” to Governor Eno and praised her for her humanitarian efforts, particularly through her foundation, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), which helped provide shelter, food, and education to the underprivileged.

“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and the people of Lagos State, I express my deepest condolences to my brother, Governor Umo Eno, and the people of Akwa Ibom State. Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno was not just a wife and mother, but a true soulmate and strong pillar of support to our brother,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Referred to as Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom, meaning “Mother and Strong Pillar of Akwa Ibom,” Mrs. Eno was loved for her compassionate leadership. Sanwo-Olu concluded by praying for her soul’s eternal rest and for strength for the family and people of Akwa Ibom to bear the loss.
