The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of five officers in a serious motor accident on the Zaria-Kano road early Tuesday morning.

In a telephone interview with PUNCH Online, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, provided details about the incident.

He stated that the accident occurred at Karfi village in the Kura Local Government Area as the officers were returning to Kano from an official assignment.

“The accident occurred at Karfi, a few kilometers from Kano, resulting in the death of five officers, while 11 others sustained injuries,” he said.

Haruna further noted that the injured officers are currently receiving medical treatment in a Kano hospital. It was reported that the vehicle transporting the police officers collided head-on with a trailer in the village.

Five officers tragically died at the scene, while the 11 others with various injuries were promptly taken to Murtala Mohammad Specialist Hospital for care.
