Osimhen Set to Lead Galatasaray Attack as Champions League Clash with Monaco Looms

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to spearhead Galatasaray’s attack today as the Turkish champions travel to Monaco for their UEFA Champions League fixture.

Both teams sit mid-table in the league phase and will be meeting for the seventh time in the competition’s history. Monaco approach the match in inconsistent form, having managed a notable victory over PSG amid a poor five-match run that has stalled their progress in both the Champions League and Ligue 1. With six points from five matches, they are now fighting to remain within the top 24. However, some optimism remains among home supporters, as Monaco are unbeaten in their last four European outings.

Their 1–0 win over Bodø/Glimt on matchday four remains their only victory in eight Champions League matches, and with just three wins from their last 14 main-draw home games, concerns persist.

Galatasaray arrive in similar form, having lost two of their last five matches across all competitions, including a Champions League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise. Okan Buruk’s side, however, regained some momentum over the weekend with a dramatic 3–2 domestic win secured by a 93rd-minute goal. The victory provides a morale boost as the Turkish giants aim for consecutive away Champions League wins for only the second time in their history.

History, however, is not on their side. Of the 26 teams that have played at least 50 away Champions League matches, only Olympiacos (11%) have a lower win rate than Galatasaray’s 13%.
