The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained a medical doctor suspected of delivering medical supplies to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State.
According to a statement issued in Ilorin, the doctor was apprehended along the Jebba axis following intelligence linking him to a network of kidnappers and their couriers. The supplies reportedly originated from Sokoto and were destined for injured kidnappers requiring medical attention after clashes with security operatives.
A security official warned that the recent incident underscores the risk that kidnappers may increasingly target remote health facilities — particularly those in forest-bordering or hard-to-reach areas. “We are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” the official said.
This arrest comes against a backdrop of escalating efforts by security agencies in Kwara State to dismantle logistical networks that supply kidnapped suspects with weapons, food, drugs, and other essentials.
