President Bola Tinubu has nominated Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following the election of Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The nomination was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who confirmed that Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking Doro’s confirmation.

According to Onanuga, “The President has sent the name of Bernard Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic.”

Doro’s nomination comes after Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, was elected APC chairman in July.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro brings to the role over two decades of professional experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement across Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. Doro is also a certified Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), covering urgent care, walk-in centres, general practice, and hospital settings.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Doro has been actively involved in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives both in the diaspora and within local communities.
Onanuga added that President Tinubu expects the Senate to give due consideration to the nomination.
