Snoop Dogg has officially become a co-owner of Swansea City, marking an unexpected but high-profile crossover between global hip-hop and English football. The Championship club announced the rapper’s investment on Thursday, unveiling a partnership that is already drawing international attention.

The 53-year-old American star—real name Calvin Broadus—joins Croatian football legend Luka Modrić in the club’s ownership structure. His involvement follows the acquisition of Swansea by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November 2024.

The rapper’s association with Swansea was first hinted at last week, when he appeared in the club’s social media campaign modeling the new home kit for the 2025/26 season. Now officially part of the ownership group, Snoop is expected to bring his massive social media influence—boasting over 100 million followers—to help amplify the club’s global profile.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said in a statement published on the club’s website.

“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.

I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Club owners expressed excitement over the partnership, noting that Snoop’s involvement aligns with their vision to grow revenue and invest further in player development under the English Football League’s profit and sustainability guidelines.

“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile,” the owners said.

“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”

Swansea hopes the rapper’s presence will help reignite their Premier League ambitions, having last played in the top flight in 2018. The club also believes the fresh ownership dynamic will unlock commercial opportunities and fan engagement on a global scale.

Earlier in April, Swansea confirmed that Luka Modrić—who this week signed with AC Milan at the age of 39 after leaving Real Madrid—had also purchased a stake in the club.

The bold move mirrors a rising trend in football, where entertainment stars step into club ownership. Welsh rivals Wrexham AFC, under Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have already climbed the English football ladder and now compete in the Championship—the same division as Swansea.

With Snoop Dogg now on board, Swansea City may well be entering a new era—where music, marketing, and football intersect in pursuit of Premier League glory.
