Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Javi Guerra, the highly rated 22-year-old midfielder from Valencia CF, as the Premier League giants look to bolster their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to Monday reports from FootballTransfers and Sports Mole, the Red Devils are “close to signing” Guerra, whose contract at Valencia includes a €100 million release clause.

However, sources indicate that a fee in the region of €24–30 million is likely to be accepted by the Spanish club due to financial constraints.

“Manchester United are pushing hard to sign the 22-year-old, and a deal is close,” FootballTransfers reported on Monday, citing Italian outlet Calciomercato.

Guerra, who has made over 80 La Liga appearances and emerged as a standout performer in a struggling Valencia side, is seen as a long-term solution to United’s evolving midfield under new manager Rúben Amorim.

He is known for his box-to-box energy, defensive discipline, and ability to dictate play from deep.

The potential transfer comes as United prepare for a summer rebuild, with the futures of veterans such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen uncertain.

The addition of Guerra would mark a shift toward younger, more dynamic midfield options.

Valencia had previously insisted that Guerra was not for sale, but The Peoples Person reports that the club’s financial situation may force their hand.

The publication noted in May that Valencia were willing to negotiate, with United and Arsenal both monitoring the player closely.

AC Milan and Athletico Madrid among other top tiers European clubs have also been linked with the Spain U21 international, but United are said to be leading the race.

Despite the interest, Valencia have yet to officially confirm any negotiations. As of press time, Manchester United had not made a formal statement either.

If completed, the deal would represent one of United’s first major signings of the summer window. More developments are expected in the coming days, including possible personal terms and medical arrangements.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Javi Guerra gains momentum as Goal reports, “United are closing in on signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra this summer,” while noting increased competition from AC Milan, Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid.

The Red Devils have already secured three new signings this window: attacking midfielder Matheus Cunha (signed from Wolves), dynamic left-back Diego León (from Cerro Porteño), and promising French defender Enzo Kana‑Biyik (from Le Havre)

Pre-season preparations begin in earnest, with the squad kicking off in Solna, Sweden, before heading to the Premier League Summer Series in the U.S. – starting July 26 against West Ham United in East Rutherford.

The official Premier League campaign then launches on 15 August 2025, with United’s opening opponent being Arsenal at the Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17.
