The Supreme Court has set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which had upheld Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
Delivering a unanimous verdict on Friday morning, a five-member panel of the apex court ruled that the Court of Appeal lacked jurisdiction to affirm Abure’s leadership.
The justices emphasized that the case revolved around party leadership—an internal affair that falls outside the jurisdiction of the courts.
With this ruling, the Supreme Court nullified the Court of Appeal’s decision, reinforcing its position that leadership disputes within political parties should be resolved internally rather than through judicial intervention.
