The latest FIFA rankings have seen Nigeria rise to 43rd place globally, marking a one-step improvement from their previous position of 44th at the end of 2024.
The World Football governing body, FIFA, announced the update on its X handle on Thursday.
Argentina remains at the top of the global rankings, continuing their impressive run of form with key victories.
Spain holds the second spot, while France follows closely in third.
England and Brazil round off the top five, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Nigeria’s climb in the rankings is likely linked to their recent performances, particularly their victory over Rwanda in a World Cup qualifying match.
The Super Eagles are in the race to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
More updates will follow as the qualifiers progress.
