The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi (SMA), has commenced the distribution of food relief to over 6,000 indigent women across the three Local Government Areas of his constituency to ease economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of his annual Ramadan intervention program, 3,000 beneficiaries in Bida, 1,500 in Katcha, and 1,500 in Gbako received free bags of rice to support their households during the fasting period. Additionally, party officials, youth organizations, development associations, and religious and traditional groups were included in the distribution exercise.

Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi, represented by Alhaji Shaibu Adamu Adamu, reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups and addressing economic challenges in his constituency. He assured that the initiative, launched last year, would continue as part of a long-term effort to support the less privileged.

In Bida, Alhaji Baba Suleiman (Sarkin Samari Nupe), Chairman of the Distribution Committee, described the intervention as timely and impactful, stressing that the process was designed to be fair and transparent to ensure the food items reached those most in need. He urged other political officeholders and well-meaning individuals to emulate the humanitarian efforts of the lawmaker.

Similarly, in Gbako, the rice distribution took place at Magi Woro, Wawagi, and Zanchita, with Alhaji Abubakar Ndajiya, Chairman of the Distribution Committee, expressing joy over the initiative and offering prayers for Rt. Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi. He encouraged beneficiaries to continue supporting the lawmaker and to remember him in their prayers.

In Katcha, the distribution was held at Badeggi and Yinti, where Alhaji Umar Adamu, the Village Head of Kataeregi and Chairman of the Distribution Committee, commended the lawmaker’s dedication to supporting the people. He encouraged him to sustain such interventions while calling on other privileged individuals to contribute to community welfare.

To ensure equity and transparency, distribution committees in each local government included representatives from religious bodies, cooperative societies, youth and women groups, development associations, and the media.

Many beneficiaries, overwhelmed with gratitude, described the intervention as a lifeline during the fasting period and commended Rt. Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi for prioritizing their welfare.

Initially targeted at party officials, stakeholders, and close associates, the initiative has now expanded to widows, the less privileged, and vulnerable households, reinforcing the lawmaker’s commitment to social welfare.

The humanitarian effort has drawn widespread commendation, with calls for leaders at all levels to prioritize interventions that directly impact ordinary citizens, especially during challenging economic times.
