The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, appointed new Medical Directors to lead two prominent health institutions in Northern Nigeria.

Dr. Haruna Shehu has been named the new Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Kafanchan, located in Kaduna State, while Dr. Ali Ramat will assume leadership at the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Azare, Hawul, Borno State.

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, officially presented the appointment letters to the new directors during a brief ceremony in Abuja on Monday.

These appointments are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance access to quality healthcare in Northern Nigeria.

Salako underscored the importance of strengthening healthcare institutions and highlighted the critical role of the new directors in addressing the unique challenges faced by these newly established federal health facilities.

“These are new hospitals, and as such, you will naturally face some initial challenges,” the minister remarked.

“Kafanchan, in particular, holds a special place for the President, who has shown a deep commitment to that part of Kaduna State.

His establishment of a Federal University in the region further underscores his dedication to its development,” the minister continued.

Salako also urged the appointees to collaborate with community stakeholders and align their efforts with the President’s broader healthcare objectives.

In his response, Dr. Shehu expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and his team.

“We are committed to advancing the government’s healthcare vision and ensuring excellence in service delivery,” he said, vowing to meet the challenges head-on.
