A fatal accident along Felele Road in Lokoja, kogi State has claimed the lives of six students from the Federal University Lokoja, along with the driver of their shuttle bus.
Eyewitnesses report that the tragedy occurred when a trailer, reportedly experiencing brake failure, lost control and crashed into the stationary shuttle bus, which was waiting to pick up students near Felele Bus Stop, a bustling transportation hub.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) promptly arrived at the scene to rescue victims trapped beneath the trailer. The vehicle, carrying building construction rafters and other materials, caused significant damage upon impact.
While some witnesses fear the death toll could rise, FRSC officials told TVC News that the injured have been rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital and Kogi State Specialist Hospital for urgent medical attention. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the hospitals’ morgues for identification.
The accident led to severe traffic disruptions, leaving commuters and residents in shock as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage.
