Former Tottenham Midfielder Michael O’Hara asserts that for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to clinch the Premier League title, they require a striker capable of scoring 25 goals in a season.

The Gunners are on a quest to secure the Premier League trophy for the first time since the 2023/24 season, having finished as runners-up in the previous two campaigns.

Yet, there’s an ongoing debate among fans and analysts regarding the necessity of a high-scoring striker to reach this ambition.

One Arsenal supporter, Rich, contends that the team can thrive without such a striker. He remarked, “You started off saying that some Arsenal fans believe we don’t need a 25-goal-a-season striker.

“Then you made a strong point that no team has won the Premier League without one. I searched and couldn’t find an exception, so I have to give you credit for that,” as reported by Talk Sports.

He continued, “I mentioned I didn’t think we would lose to Aston Villa, and I still believe we can win the league.

“But regarding your point about needing a 25-goal striker… If we’re not conceding goals and scoring as we have been, is it really essential to have a striker who nets 25 goals?” In response, O’Hara emphasizes that in 14 of the last 18 Premier League seasons, the champions featured a striker who scored 25 or more goals.

O’Hara stated, “I share your view, Rich. As you pointed out, no one has won the Premier League without one. The evidence is clear. Sure, you can score plenty of goals and potentially win the league, but no one has done it without a prolific scorer!”.

Meanwhile, credible sources indicate that Arsenal is actively seeking an attacker, with Super Eagles striker Osimhen among the names being considered.

The Gunners expressed interest in Osimhen earlier in the transfer window but have yet to make a formal offer for the forward.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal is pursuing Osimhen and is prepared to offer Napoli around €100 million (£84.9 million).
