The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved ₦36.5 billion for various projects in the Federal Capital City and satellite towns.

Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, FCTA, Mr. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, announced the approval in Abuja on Thursday while briefing journalists on the outcomes of the first FCT Executive Committee meeting of 2025.

Zulkiflu explained that ₦19.6 billion of the total amount would fund the construction of multi-event sports centers, while ₦13.9 billion would be allocated for the construction of two magistrate courts. Additionally, ₦3 billion has been earmarked for the procurement and installation of a 33KV power supply and streetlight system.

According to Zulkiflu, the committee awarded contracts for the construction of a multi-event sports complex in Abuja, divided into Lot A and Lot B. Lot A, located in Area 3 and Area 10, Garki District, was awarded to Earthgain Energy and Environmental Services Ltd for ₦9.9 billion. Lot B, sited in Kafe District behind Life Camp, was awarded to Tegwa-Tegwa Nigeria Ltd for ₦9.7 billion. The projects are expected to be completed within 12 months.

“The committee also approved the construction of two magistrates’ courts in Asokoro and Garki Districts, costing ₦7.6 billion and ₦6.3 billion, respectively,” Zulkiflu stated. “These projects, expected to be completed in 15 and 18 months, aim to enhance access to justice and legal services in the FCT.”

Furthermore, ₦3 billion has been approved for the construction of a 33KV power supply for communities from Dawaki to Bwari. This amount also includes provisions for a solar street lighting system along Arab Road and U-Shape Road in the same areas. The contract, awarded to CGC Nigeria Ltd, is scheduled for completion in six months.

Zulkiflu emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance security and infrastructure development in satellite towns, improving the overall quality of life for residents.
