Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, arrived at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning to honour an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force.
Sowore, accompanied by his lawyer and some supporters, arrived at the headquarters around 9:45 a.m. The police had summoned him for questioning in a letter dated January 23, 2025, signed by CP Ibitoye Rufus Alajide on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID).
The invitation outlined several allegations, including “resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful order, acts intended to cause grievous harm or prevent arrest, compelling action by intimidation, reckless and negligent acts, refusal to assist public servants, and cyberstalking.”
The letter directed Sowore to report to Room 212 of the FID Complex, opposite the Force Headquarters in Abuja, by 10 a.m. It also noted that the invitation fell within the police’s constitutional investigative powers and informed him of his right to bring legal representation.
As of the time of this report, Sowore is reportedly in discussions with the police.
