The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has introduced two groundbreaking initiatives—the Document Flow (DocFlow) System and the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) Naira Payment Solution. The launch event took place on Wednesday at the CBN Head Office in Abuja.

According to a statement from the apex bank, these initiatives are part of the Bank’s ongoing digital transformation project, “Digital First,” which was inaugurated by Cardoso in December 2023 as a cornerstone of his modernization agenda.

During the launch, Cardoso described the DocFlow System as a revolutionary tool aimed at digitizing the Bank’s document management processes, reducing reliance on paper, and streamlining approval workflows. He further highlighted the MDAs Naira Payment Solution as an automated system designed to enhance cash withdrawal processes for government agencies, improving financial transaction efficiency and client service delivery.

Cardoso reaffirmed his commitment to leveraging technology to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and sustainability. He expressed pride in the in-house development of both solutions, which he noted significantly reduced implementation costs.

The Deputy Governor, Operations, Emem Usoro, underscored the Bank’s focus on operational excellence, noting that the solutions embody CBN’s culture of innovation and its dedication to stakeholder satisfaction. Usoro emphasized the MDAs Naira Payment Solution’s benefits, which include minimizing errors, mitigating fraud, and improving service delivery to MDAs.

Mrs. Jide-Samuel, the Acting Director of CBN’s Information Technology Department and project lead, revealed that the MDAs Naira Payment Solution had been successfully tested with select MDAs. She described the solution as a pivotal step toward achieving the Bank’s enterprise objective of “Excellence in Central Banking Operations.”

Projected to improve payment turnaround times by 70%, the MDAs Naira Payment Solution is expected to significantly enhance Nigeria’s financial ecosystem, solidifying CBN’s role as a leader in innovative banking solutions.
