Tragedy struck Tatara village in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State when gunmen launched a deadly attack, leaving seven people dead.

The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident to Channels Television, revealing that the attack occurred on Saturday night.

“We received a distress call, and upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, led a team of operatives to the scene. Seven corpses were recovered, and the assailants were pursued, leading to the abandonment of nine motorcycles,” Nansel disclosed.

Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police convened a stakeholders’ meeting, during which he expressed condolences to the bereaved families and ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

To restore calm in the community, police operatives have been deployed to the area to ensure security.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Sule is scheduled to visit the affected community to sympathize with the victims and assess the situation.

Investigations into the attack are ongoing as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
