At least 40,000 families in Borno State will receive food aid through the Aliko Dangote Food Intervention Programme, an initiative designed to ease economic hardship, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

Flagging off the distribution in Maiduguri on Wednesday, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum—represented by the Director General of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ali Abdullahi Isa—hailed the donation of 40,000 bags of 10kg rice by the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) as a significant relief effort for vulnerable communities.

“This generous donation is a testament to the Foundation’s dedication to supporting those in need. We are deeply thankful to Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the entire foundation for their kindness and philanthropy,” Isa stated. He also urged residents to continue praying for peace, stability, and prosperity in Borno and across Nigeria.

The rice distribution in Borno is part of a broader nationwide initiative by ADF, which recently commenced the distribution of one million bags of rice worth N16 billion across all 774 local government areas in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, ADF representative Usman Muhammad reaffirmed its commitment to complementing government efforts in improving the lives of Nigerians, especially the poor and vulnerable.

Among the beneficiaries was 50-year-old Aisha Modu, who has been displaced from her home. She expressed her gratitude, noting that the donation would significantly ease her financial burden. Another recipient, 60-year-old Umaru Aliyu, said the rice would help him provide for his six children. “May God continue to bless the chairman of the Foundation,” he prayed.
