2027: Ex-Presidential Aspirant Urges Jonathan to Recontest, Says Nigeria Needs Him More Than Ever

A former presidential aspirant of the Action Democratic Party, Mathias Tsado, has called on associates of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on him to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Tsado, who contested the 2019 election as the presidential candidate of the Liberation Movement, made the appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.

He argued that Jonathan’s return to power remains the most viable solution to Nigeria’s worsening economic and security challenges.

“We need him back in 2027. This is not about politics but about saving Nigeria. He has the experience, the temperament, and the vision to bring our country back from the brink,” Tsado said.

The former aspirant recalled that Jonathan’s tenure was marked by strong democratic values and reforms, noting that many Nigerians still view him as a unifying figure capable of restoring stability.

Tsado further urged Jonathan’s political allies to intensify efforts to persuade him to run, insisting that the nation was at a critical crossroads.

“Those around him should speak to him with one voice. Nigeria needs him more than ever. His leadership style is what can calm tensions and redirect the economy,” he added.

His remarks come amid growing speculations in political circles about potential contenders for the 2027 presidential race.

Although Jonathan has not declared any interest in running, Tsado maintained that the former leader remains the country’s best hope for national recovery.
