The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued eleven victims; nine females and two males along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, describing the operation as part of a major breakthrough in the command’s ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry across the state.

According to him, “On June 8, 2025, at about 2230 hours (10:30 pm), a joint security team comprising Police operatives, the Military, the Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Sharan Daji operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes, while on routine patrol along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza road, successfully foiled the kidnap attempt and rescued the victims.”

DSP Sadiq explained that the team encountered a group of armed bandits attempting to flee with the abducted victims, who had been taken from various locations within the state. A fierce gun duel ensued, forcing the assailants to abandon their captives and flee the scene due to the superior firepower and tactics of the security personnel.

“All eleven victims were rescued unharmed,” he confirmed.

While assuring the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent future attacks, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Bello Shehu, lauded the operatives for their courage and professionalism during the operation.

He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating criminality in collaboration with other security agencies and urged residents to remain vigilant.

“We call on the general public to continue supporting the efforts of the Command and other security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines. This will significantly enhance the effectiveness of security operations in the state,” CP Shehu stated.
